Really excited about this new Ab-Soul song, Nibiru. To me its so much more than just a new TDE track, which we are generally excited about. This builds around one of his lines from his previous track where he says “fuck I’m doin’ talking bout Pineal Glands, ancient ways and Sumerians”, this time he goes fully in. In his previous tracks, he mentioned some sumerian references but this whole song is conceptual, as he spits from the actual perspective of an Annunaki preparing to returning to the earth. He documents different theories and cover-ups that the Government have been known to be behind. One of the main reasons I am so drawn to the song is perhaps because I have owned literature and films on the subject for years. It has always resonated with me and to have a rapper that’s buzzing right now pushing this in the forefront, is totally out of the norm. Regardless of whether this is people’s particular interest or not, it is still another victory for rappers with more conscious content. It’s gonna force more people to push the envelope with rap, which at one point I thought was on the verge of life support. Between Ab coming with these heavy tracks and Nas currently winning with his #1 rated Life is Good, hip-hop is looking better by the day
